I know the feeling well. I try to be impressionistic starting with a large brush and ending up with a no.3! I do like your style of painting and I think you should be very pleased with it.

I like this very much = and as for your point: I think you just have to be yourself; experiment and play, of course, but there's no special virtue in painting loosely or abstractly, nor do you have to paint as do those whose work you most admire: I don't ... whether I could I don't know, but apart from anything else there are too many of them for me to seek to emulate them; I'd drive myself mad (madder, then..).

Jeanette I'd love to be able to produce beautiful watercolour washes as you do, you have a fabulous style. I'm still trying to find my style, don't think I ever shall, I look at what I want to paint then think of the easiest way to do it!!Lol! If I'm lucky, it sometimes works out! Love your gallery very much.

This is a lovely painting with strong lines and beautiful colours. I, too, admire some artists work but if I try and go down that route it always fails. You have to take something from these paintings and then apply it through your own eyes to what you do. That way you develop your own style and you can only be true to yourself. I, like you, have to often content myself with admiring without being able to replicate. However, your style is wonderful and I think I would be well satisfied if this was my painting!!

Excellent work Jeanette, best Mick

Oh-,this is fantastic piece. Beatuiful wash.

A cracking piece - nice work Jeanette

Lovely effect - almost a Relativist foreshortening (if based on images in movement)! Your gallery is a great tonic.

Lovely work, really like your style. I'm sure, looking at your gallery that I've seen some of these in the flesh, so to speak. Did you exhibit as part of a group last year in Arundel, August time?

If only the view were this beautiful ! Wow !

Jeanette, I really like your style, beautiful work.

Wonderful way with watercolour. Most enjoyable to look at. Your treatment of the windows is just great.

I think you have a lovely way with watercolour, I suppose we all keep practicing and gradually our style appears.

If I could paint like this I would be very happy. I have just looked at your gallery and love them all. You are an inspiration!

I agree with all the comments - think this is beautiful Jeanette. I am going on a 'line and wash' workshop day in August - this is giving me inspiration!

You have a lovely style, Jeanette, I like it very much.

I really like this Jeanette, I love the colours you have used.

You have a lovely style, and use of colour and paint. A beautiful painting.

Lovely , lovely painting.

This is so "typical" you, Jeanette. I am a great admirer of your "less is more"-style. I wish this was one of my works, I find it super. Keep on posting!

Thank you Mia, and many thanks to everyone for your comments, which I appreciate very much. I haven't painted very much in the last 6 months as I was questioning where my work was going, but the response to this painting has been really encouraging and I'm sure will get me going again!

Wonderful, Jeanette!

Having another look at your portfolio...you really are a gifted, lovely watercolourist....

I love how you captured the way the houses seems to huddle together. Very simple and very captivating!

A watercolour painting from photos and sketches made on the train to London from Barnham Station. Strange to be looking at the private areas of houses rather than the more public facade at the front. Very many thanks for the comments on my last painting, which were much appreciated.
