the crisp lines of the rose contrasts well with the hazy background. Likewise the pure petal colour with the muted back ground. i like it.

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments. It's always appreciated to hear words of encouragement from fellow artists. Looking at the gallery picture again I think that it would be improved if I had cropped it a bit more tightly, but having said that I'm quite pleased with it!
