Oh Ian, I don't know how to set about this one...a bit jazzy and a change from your other work. What are you doing in this? Festival of colour? I don't blame you if you've had the same weather as us today!

Hi - I think this is terrific, i love the patterns you have created. The colours and shapes are quite complex , but the whole picture is very pleasing and very different.

This was a reaction to seeing and being disgusted at what was accepted and sold at The Royal Academy summer exhibition a couple of years ago. All the lines are straight ,the colours are bright and I hope evoke a happy response to a piece which is really decore art. I was contented in the thought that I had completed something different and gay,in the old sense of the term. Similar pieces of mine were rejected by the RA. Thomasina, thank you .You don't happen to be rich art agent by any chance?

Love the shapes and colours and the designed simplicity of this painting. I shouldn't worry about being rejected by the 'establishment' because so far it seems to me that they tend to go for the obvious and what seems familiar either in the art itself or the actual artist. Just keep doing your own thing. The good thing about gallery comments is that they are all personal reactions to work and are not governed by what is in vogue at the moment or the rules which seem to plague art appreciation.

Ian, you have been creative which is what art is about. Your painting has movement, lively composition and a sense of fun and an exuberant use of colour - what more can one ask.
