Bertie’s owners, Jenny and Christine, had asked if I would do a picture of his late companion Maisie, who died last year. I found myself having to work from just a few grainy photos, which was something of a challenge. However they were quite moved when they saw the finished picture, saying that I had managed to capture Maisie’s character, so that was very gratifying.
