‘Maggie Mae’
Unfortunately the textured paper I used didn’t work well with soft pastels but I won’t use it again. Anyway, ‘Maggie Mae’ was rewritten by all four Beatles when they were called ‘The Quarrymen’. It was originally a Liverpudlian folk song telling the story of Maggie Mae, a prostitute who enticed the sailors who came into the port of Liverpool. She stole a sailors wages and clothes and was sentenced for transportation to Botany Bay for theft and prostitution.
