‘Run for your life’

An interesting one, Spencer - not a song that generally comes to mind.

Very good.

Love your accompanying narratives and very clever images Spencer.

Interesting concept

Like the way you have done this Spencer 🙂

Made me smile, another good one Spencer

A well depicted piece, Spencer.

Not familiar with that song, but you've produced a great image.

Thank you so much for your great comments David, Denise Carole, Michael, Stephen, Heather, Seok and Lewis. This was a strange one to depict and I wasn’t sure how well it would be accepted. I did it as a purely emotive response to the lyrics.

Love your narrative and use of silhouette, Spencer. I was always, and still am, a Stones fan although I do remember a number of cutting edge Beatles songs.

Thank you so much for your comments Tim and Coral. I do appreciate it.

Catch you with another man that's the Enda little girl. I don't think the lyrics then were taken as literally as they might be condoned or frowned on now. Anyway a very clever piece of work and great interpretation. Spencer. Just one thing for Tim the Stones first hit was written by the Beatles!

So clever!

Thank you so much Chris and Rachel. In those days we would dance along to the beat of the music and sing the lyrics not thinking about the words. Or is it just that we were more innocent then ?

I have never heard of this song Spencer. Just looked up the lyrics and you are right they are very dark and would be at the least very frowned upon now. Your painting is a great interpretation of the song!

Yes certainly more innocent then I think Spencer.

Thanks so much for your great comments David and Chris.

I hadn’t reached my teens when the Beatles were about so I didn’t really catch on to them, even in later life. The music I grew up with, because I had older brothers and sisters, was the popular rock and roll and country music. I didn’t hear hardly any of the Beatles music. My parents were in to classical and opera…. 🥱 but I know a great painting when I see it Spencer.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment Fiona. I was a similar age to you when the Beatles were about but I had parents who liked having the radiogram on and that’s when I first heard it. As years progressed I learned to play some of their more famous pieces on the piano - and still do!

I don’t know the song but the image suits the title and is spot on for the 1960s. No pun intended. Good one Spencer!

Thank you so much for your comments Martin and Maureen.

Clever concept with much potential

Very expressive of when life is a 'chase'.

Continuing my Beatles theme this misogynistic song was written by Lennon in 1964. It was deemed to be acceptable in the culture of the time but would not be deemed acceptable today. It was banned from receiving air time in 1992 in Canada but was never banned in the UK. The song was never performed live by the Beatles but was put on their album ‘Rubber Soul’.

About the Artist
