Insomnia!

Comments

Such a vivid image portraying insomnia so very well Spencer. Love the vacant eyes and look of despair.

Yea… Carole said it very well! Beautifully painted Spencer!

Very good Spencer.

I like the simplicity of line here, very effective.

Really good, you've definitely captured insomnia

Very effective, fairly minimalist artwork Spencer. Nicely done.

Thank you for your great comments Lewis, Heather, Rikke and David.

Excellent Spencer. I can relate with this. The vivid colours and resigned stare help portray the frustration of the non sleeper

Thank you so much Martin. I felt the vivid colours were needed to enhance the intense feelings and thoughts that go through your head as you try to sleep. The hair colour was from a lady I saw the other day but I didn’t want to put hair on the top of her head as your brain is full of endless thoughts and stresses as you try to sleep - your hair is unimportant!

This works really well Spencer. It does seem slightly pop art to me in style.

Such a good expression, conveys the title perfectly.

Thank you David. I think it would be in the pop art style. I do like trying different techniques and styles to see what comes out. I usually have a lot of ideas in my head that come out when I’m trying to sleep!! Thank you so much Valerie. That’s what I was trying to put across.

A well composed and very expressive piece. Very nicely done, Spencer.

Like this a lot.

Loving your style, well done, look forward to seeing more

Something different for me. Slightly Andy Warhol style in image. Tried to portray how insomnia is. Lying still. Eyes shut, eyes open. Praying to go to sleep. Background was produced digitally and printed and I then painted on top of that to get a strange sense between consciousness and unconsciousness that sleep can bring. I had resized image but unfortunately the initial print came out and not the edited version.
