Charcoal sketch by Owen Lloyd

Very good Owen, interesting commentary to yourself too!

Very good Owen and as you will know, it's all down to practicing as often as you can.

Like the sketch and notes on a work in progress.

Thank you for your kind comment on my painting, in answer to your question, i don't add any thinner or medium to my paint, just apply it with a sable flat ended brush leaving out areas of canvas as the paint drags out over the acrylic ground [rose red in this case]. I would actually prefer the paint to be more thicker but it always turns out this way so i go with the flow, no pun intended.

Estupendo.

A single session sketch stopping at 40 and 90 minutes. I've been doing a few like this, working to improve my initial construction. For this one I kept Denise Cat's excellent life sketch in my head. Looking for overlapping shapes, planes and curves. Charcoal on newsprint about A2.

Started on Bob Ross. Great fun, fast and confidence building. Progressed to Mark Carder oils. The first time I could paint what saw. Now doing watercolour due to time restrictions. Sloooow progress.
