Lovely painting (and quite topical given the rumours that Haaf fishing may be banned!). Like the way you have painted the sea.

Beautiful paintinhg, Stuart.

Thanks for the explanation of its origins. Nice to see the place where I took a very pleasant walk last year. If I saw that cloud coming, I'd run for shelter.

Cheers guys, yes Haaf netting is facing some issues. As a salmon fisher myself I can see both sides of the argument , but I hope some sense is applied and some netting is allowed as it is old and very unique way of life that I do not want to disappear totally. It is remote part of the British isles that can brutal and beautiful, I just hope we can keep it unspoiled for as long as possible.

Nice work Stuart. That's a really threatening sky.

Wonderful painting Stuart, love the sky

Good work - great light on the sea

This painting features haaf netters on the Solway Firth at the small village of Port Carlisle. Haaf netting may date back thousands of years to the introduction by Viking invaders, 'haaf' being the Norse word for channel (or sea)
