Thanks everyone for commenting, I’ve found hens to be gentle and graceful characters and have a calming influence on me and yes Heather, we had lots of delicious small bantam eggs from them for breakfast!

I’ve been helping to look after a friend’s hens while he was away. It’s been great fun, especially trying to get them back into the hen hut at nights, where some liked to do a merry dance around the hut rather than go up the ramp into the hatch! Gouache in my A3 sketchbook
