Thanks everyone for stopping to comment - it really is appreciated. This has been slow to evolve, but one of the rare times I’ve been able to paint loose despite all the detail.

I admire how you use gouache Frank, you are able to convey texture and depth in the application so well. My own feeble attempts have always looked washed out. It’s a beautiful painting of a fabulous subject……I particularly like the sky.

We very much enjoyed our visit last summer to this quirky cottage built into the hillside in Leicestershire. I’ve used gouache quite liberally in this painting, hardly watering it down at all. 15x20cm on Winsor & Newton 250gsm mixed media paper.
