Well observed sketch Carole, those roots almost look to be moving.

Excellent image. Having done these root sketches, I empathize!

Thank you all for your kind comments. Yes Kirstie seems I'm in your territory ;))

Lovely skilled pencil work Carole, an art in itself.

This is lovely for a quick sketch. Makes me want to get my pencils out!

Lovely pencil work Carole, did you do it in situ?

Wonderful drawing of the base of the tree, it is almost telling you must move or get entwined lovely sketch Carole.

What a amazing drawing. The variety of marks from the soft smudges to the use of the side of your pencil makes this very effective.

I love seeing the workings of trees Carole - great sketch.

Thank you very much appreciated everyone. Val a VERY quick sketch in situ then a quick sketch at home ;). Yes Tao I didn't stay long the roots were moving fast :)

Fantastic drawing Carole!

Beautiful drawing and good detail throughout.

I've just checked online, but I think the walk would be too hard for me to see this tree in person, so I hope you post a watercolour of this tree soon. :)

This brilliant Carole. Lovely tonal work and shading.

Looking forward to the coloured version of this beauty, Carole!

Many thanks all for your encouragement. Kirstie it is a bit of a haul but such a pretty and interesting walk.

Good 'quick' sketch Carole! I wondered if this was home to some little creature!!

Many little creatures I think thanks Jennifer.

I never use HB Carole, they were banned at college, always start with a B. However, you have proved that they are a good choice with this excellent detailed drawing.

Beautifully drawn - you've put a lot of life into these lovely roots.

Thank you Alan and Dennis. Didn't know that Alan, always good to hear little tips. I sometimes use F grade for light drawing? Have you tried the tins of ArtGraf a watercolour graphite you can get all shades with it but unpredictable I find. The little tin on the outside looks like a lip gloss;)

A difficult subject but very well observed and executed - as usual!! Very well done, Carole.

Many thanks Mike and Lionel x

Ooo lovely old gnarled tree Carole.

Excellent detail, and I have seen that tree.

A lovely Sketch Carole,,

Thanks so much for your kind feedback Sarah and Richard, yes it does stand out from the crowd doesn't it Richard:)

Excellence again Carole and a great subject

Thanks very much Dermot.
