NICE SKETCH FIONA GREAT SUBJECT WELL DONE

From boats to WC's :)). Great subject Fiona, what would we do without them!

I wonder where this subject will take us Fiona. I do like the different textures you have achieved.

Thank you Dennis, Carole and Carol....I posted a couple of sketches of this loo block last year, and a monotype print as well I think. It will be another one of those, how many ways can do this subject to death...lol. Thanks again.

You've caught the dereliction very well, Fiona, and what a subject. I once wrote a poem about an old radiator, and people actually sympathised with the old thing. In just the same way I feel a sympathy for this old block. Brian

Love your subject Fiona, certainly gets the imagination going. Lol

Who would have thought that an old toilet block could actually be a good subject? I raise my nonexistent hat to you Fiona for sketching this. Is there anything interesting inside, like an old rusty cistern waiting to be drawn?

I think it would have been more interesting if you had placed yourself at an angle (allowing you to demonstrate some perspective) but as mentioned the textures are good.

I am sure you will flush everything out of them Fiona. Lol.

..........and I thought art had gone down the pan!! Amazing where you can find inspiration if only you can see it.

A rather bog standard building - come 0n, someone had to say it. Well done on your subject matter Fiona.

Lovely sketch and great tones of light and dark 😀

Well this is different and all credit to you for having the inspiration to create art from such a derelict looking building. Toilets of all things..a subject not normally tackled! (Talking of odd subjects, I do remember, many years ago, seeing a painting of a man in the bath. Just his head over the rim of an avocado coloured bath which I liked because it was so different and I've never forgotten it!). As for this view, after giving it some thought after initially thinking 'no', I can now see good shapes, textures and rich colour could come thorough once you've had a go at reviving the old place. This could turn into something special and I really look forward now to see where you take it. From your description, I sense you already have ideas. As I said, it's fascinating isn't it how some scenes inspire us, places we wouldn't normally notice.

Lovely textures and pencil marks here Fiona.

It's a very good sketch Fiona, what a change of tack, from boats to loos😀 well done, I would never have thought of drawing this, you may start a new trend!

Many thanks Brian, wait and see, I will breath new life back into this old ruin by the time I’ve done with it...lol Lesley, thank you very much, an odd subject I know but it does get the imagination flowing. Satu, thanks very much. There is lots of rubbish inside, some of it unmentionable but I think the character of the block could produce some interesting perspectives. Thanks David! This is just one of many sketches of this block, there are one or two in my gallery if you want other perspectives......and more to follow.

Lol.....thank you John, Tony, Alan for your very witty feedback, I’m sure after the first ‘flush’ of success with the subject, it will go down the pan as you’ve suggested! Lol 😂 Thanks very much Linda, appreciated.

Louise, I think it’s the challenge of being able to create something from a little inspiring subject that draws me to things like this. Because it’s got absolutely nothing going for it, the challenge is to try and make something interesting from it, even if it is just shapes, textures or colour. Just doing it in a different medium can sometimes give it a lift. Who knows where this will end up, I’ve got several ideas already buzzing about in my head! Thank you for your positive feedback.

Thank you Dennis, Sarah, Margaret for your input. Margaret, you never know about a new trend....perhaps a challenge for the gallery, paint your local loo’s! Lol

I like the way your mind works, Fiona - open and imaginative!

Lol....thank you Wib. Some would say, daft!

Sketchbook drawing 6b pencil. I thought you deserved a change from boats, I thought I would continue working from the sketches I did from last terms art project. The subject is the derelict toilet building on the old county show ground on Southfield. I’ll be doing sketches from both the lane side and the field side of the building. See how far I can push this one...lol.
