This is the first time I've heard you have ferrets Fiona How many do you have? I've not seen the challenge but if it has something to do with energy and activity you've certainly achieved that

Love the cheeky face in the foreground, the other two are playing, you are so lucky to have so many animal friends, Fiona.

Looking good Fiona, I bet they are mischievous little devils

OK not a lot of bounce but aren't they gorgeous?! They look inquisitive, extremely lively and It's a lovely painting of them Fiona. If it wasn't for the challenge, perhaps you wouldn't have painted them quite like this? That's the beauty of such a challenge and you've done so well. Now I'm wondering where these three actually live never having seen a ferret in the wild. Are they pets and what a good subject for painting. More fun than the self portrait..oops sorry, wasn't going to mention that..lol

Carol, I wish I still had them.....I had seven but they are all just fond memories now and lots of photos. Thanks Carol. I haven’t done them justice at all Annick, I’m useless at animals and people....thank you for your comment. They were and are David, but such a delight to have in your life. Most of the ferrets that are pets are the domesticated variety Louise, the wild ferret is the polecat, which are about but not many. You are very generous about my attempt Louise, thank you....I had to use photos for reference, and as it’s proving to be.....I’m as rubbish at ferrets as I am at portraits! Lol This will make you giggle, I’m on version number SIX! I started two new portraits in class on Tuesday and this ferret painting is on the back of one of them. I tell you, this b***** self portrait is going to be the end of my very short painting experience! Lol

They're rather cute and quite funny actually Fiona, love their faces. Well done!

This is gorgeous, Fiona, love the expression on the one in the foreground (he'd make a great painting on his own) - they look like real characters!

Nice one Fiona, quite different from all the other animal paintings 😀

Reminds me of the time my dog found an escaped ferret in the garden. I enjoyed playing with it and keeping it entertained until the officer from the SSPCA arrived to rescue it. I hadn't realise how lucky I was that it was a friendly ferret 'til the officer refused to go near it before putting on his leather gauntlets!! That front ferret has such a cute little face:)

Alan, Jenny, Linda and Val...thank you very much. Val, glad you met a well mannered ferret, they are like any other animal, they react to how they are treated. Unfortunately some are treated badly.

You have made them so attractive Fiona. I am sorry to hear they are only fond memories now.

A very quick oil left over sketch of three of my ferrets for the challenge. This doesn’t really capture the absolute mad frenzie of play that ferrets usually get up to. They bounce on all fours and fizz out their tails, they can run as fast backwards as they do forwards! It’s a joyful sight......unlike this example!
