It's a funny angle, I was looking down at him and it's made him look crossed eyed...poor Frankie!

Oh he has that affectionate look in those blue eyes, he is sooo thankful to you Fiona,I'm sure he must have done well after your kind care. A lovely pastel drawing.

What a lovely story! It's always nice to hear the story behind a painting...

A great backstory to the painting, Fiona. As Carole mentioned below, I think Frankie is one thankful bird that a human showed him kindness and a new lease on life.

Great story and lets hope he did - he's almost adorable bless him (or her) .

He's hilarious Fiona, made me laugh and talking of Gannets?... Christmas lunches.!

Great story and I love the sketch it has real character

Your an angel Fiona . I love your painting but its your heart I love .

Thank you very much everyone, appreciated. He isn't the largest bird I've looked after but after 'Spugs' he's was the meanest. lol Alan, I don't know what you mean......lol Dennis, that's a beautiful thing to say, thank you.X

What a great story Fiona, I'm sure he enjoyed his stay with you and lived to be happy ever after!

Thank you Margaret, I hope he had a happy ending, I like to think so.

Well, it won't be for lack of help if he doesn't lovely sketch and thank you for sharing your trials with us.

Thank you Gudrun, that's very kind. X

What a beautiful story Fiona, it must be so wonderful to be able to help birds in distress. A lovely painting of Frankie and I sincerely hope that he made it.

Thank you Satu, very much.

Frankie looks quite a character with his lovely blue eyes. A lovely way to remember these bird rescues of yours :)

Thanks very much Val.

I think he is adorable! I never tire of hearing your rescue stories which seem to usually have happy endings!!

I only tell the happy endings, I have had one or two that didn't make it but on the whole I think my success rate is pretty good, at the moment. Thank you for taking an interest Chandra.

Pastel on sugar paper. Another of my 'birdie' stories; Frankie is a juvenile Gannet and was found half starved to death on the beach at Clachtoll, most of the Gannets had already left for the winter. Fortunately I had plenty of whole mackerel in the freezer and one or two friends who had boats to restock. He didn't want to eat so the first couple of days were a trial for both of us, I still have the scars. but he soon got a taste for fish again. We fed him up and after a couple of months he went off to a bird sanctuary for his winter hols, to be released the following summer. Hope he made it!
