Some lovely use of modulation of colours and tone Fiona with nice coloured high lights. Very well done

Love your colours .

Very nice Fiona! I rather like the easel at the back. It gives the painting some distance.

Fiona!! lacking in artistry???? Who told you that? It is a smashing piece and you are learning as we all are, we never stop remember.

Beautiful shapes in this painting - I love the curve of the backs of the chairs which are echoed in the curve of the bowl and fruit. Also lovely fresh colours. Done with a light and expressive touch, Fiona - I'm impressed!

Looks like you've really got the hang of this, Fiona. Certainly got the highlights in place. Beautiful depth of colour.

Well done Fiona, it looks great! Lovely colours and shapes for the fruit and chairs.

You don't know how much you have all cheered me up! I'm just out of hospital after an op and feeling sorry for myself. One bonus is that I am suppose to take it easy for a couple of months, which should see me with plenty of opportunities for picking up a paint brush. Dennis, Sylvia, Sarah, Derek, Thea, Ian and Satu....THANK YOU!!! Ian, I hope I haven't missed 'Stip the Willow'.

Really good arrangement here Fiona, I like the curved chair backs and colour. I'm undecided about the easel shape in the background. It does actually makes for an interesting addition and ties all the shapes together. It's very interesting to see these oils progress. Also, hope you feel better soon.

I think this is very well done Fiona. The tones are really good and the colours are beautiful.

Nice one Fiona! Hope you are feeling better and look forward to seeing more of your oils!

It's been said. Keep at it and do use painting for therapy!

Thank you very much Louise, Dympna, Debs, Gudrun you're very kind.

Good luck Fiona, getting back to painting is certainly a good therapy and has really helped me.

Thank you Derek, you are very thoughtful and by the evidence of your wonderful return to painting as an example, it is good therapy.

Hi Fiona, hope you're on the mend. I haven't had chance to do 'strip the willow' just yet, though I'll get round to it. In fact, I haven't been posting anything for a while, as I just haven't had the time. But I still browse the portfolios and enjoy the postings. Best wishes.

Hi Ian, I'm feeling much better than I did this time last week, thank you for asking! How did your Tam O Shanter telling go?! I live in Galloway and the dialect is very strong where words like; nicht, licht, yin, ken, twa, wa' are used all the time. I listen to Burns poetry read in dialect on u-tube, Tam O Shanter is one of my favourites! Looking forward to seeing your 'strip the willow'......when you have the time. Thanks again for you comments on my stuff Ian, you are very generous.

Lovely Fiona. You have caught on to oils so quickly too. Good for you!

A change of items in this one, and I think there is evidence of a formula beginning to emerge in my approach. I know it still lacks artistry but I feel there is an improvement from the first one....and I am enjoying it immensley. The tutor is keen on adding the unexpected to your paintings, so the 'A' framed item in the background is suppose to be the easel of the lady who paints opposite to me and I have roughly coloured the area where she is standing by the darker hues. I'm personally not that keen on that bit. Same palette as the previous pictures, on canvas board 24"x16".
