Prophet of Doom? by Fiona Phipps

I like crows and I was very lucky once to se a 'court of crows' in our fields. Anyway, I really like this charcoal sketch

Like this Fiona.

They are clever birds, a good charcoal impression Fiona.

Love it Fiona. Smashing work.

They are for all their abuse a very intelligent bird. Love this Fiona and your written thoughts.

There is nothing wrong with doom as long as it's beautiful! Your use of charcoal has reminded me of some experimentation that I have thought of, along with my other experiments ....

Very clever birds! I love to hear them. Some really good textures you created for him Fiona.

Poor old crows…I’ve seen some lovely interactions between them and humans. Love your charcoal sketches of them Fiona.

Fabulous drawing Fiona- lovely birds

Heather, Stephen, Russell, John, Denise, Chris Gudrun, Carole, Marjorie, Rachel…..glad you like him! Thank you for your feedback and comments. When he comes to the garden, as the Jackdaws and Magpies do, we watch and study one another. They don’t just look at me, they see me, that’s how it feels. Did you know they recognise faces?

Splendid piece Fiona

Powdered and willow charcoal, chalk and eraser on Strathmore grey. Another visitor to the garden and despite their reputation, ‘plays nicely’ with the other birds. I could fill pages with the doom and bad luck written and repeated over generations about this particular member of the Corvid family. Folklore and mythology link the Crow to many different deities…..Greek, Roman, Irish, Scottish Scandinavian etc. and it mostly stacked against this bird, probably due to it being one of natures recycling agents.
