Preparatory Abstract Coloured Sketch......(21)

Comments

I find the ipad art apps are great for trying out ideas. This looks very promising, Fiona.

Very well formed by painting raw edges in minimalistic style. The colours do resonate well too, allowing the geometric shapes to project or detract from the central vertical lines, interesting process and way of preparing the outlay for this Abstract, Fiona.

Interesting colour scheme. Design evocative of architecture : arches, buttresses, steps, high cathedral windows.

Thank you ladies. Yes Marjorie, it’s handy to try colour schemes, I only use it for abstracts, saves wasting paint! I didn’t settle on these colours in the end.

Wow - I love this Fiona - perfect colour choice.

I really like these eye-catching colours, Fiona, it’s bright and modern and nicely balanced. Good idea using the iPad to test colours first, though - look forward to seeing the final piece.

Shaun, thank you for that wow! Never sure how abstract work I’ll go down on the gallery.....I have a fair few of them tucked away out of sight...lol. Many thanks Jenny. This is rather a complicated composition compared to the eventual parred down finished piece. I think it demonstrates how one still life or subject can give birth to so many variations. I won’t bore the site with all of them....lol I must be taking too many pills as well then Michael because I can see what you mean. Thank you x

Interesting to see this progressing Fiona. I like it so far.

Interesting. Like the purple and black combo !

Nearly missed this Fiona because I've not been looking at the gallery so much because of the annoying pop up ads. This one's looking good. like all the shapes which work well together.

Thank you very much George, Richard, Louise for taking a look. I won’t post all the different stages but I will post the eventual outcome.

This would be a super focal point in a modern room Fiona, great colours and design.

Thank you very much Carole, the painting itself is slightly neater and I dropped using the purple.

I look forward to the next step. I did ask about the numbering, but I can't remember which post that was ....

the coloured sketch in this abstract/minimalistic style works well Fiona, it leaves the viewer to conjure up in his or her imagination what is they read into the piece. Like it a lot . I remember a quote by Edgar Degas " Art is not what you see, but what you make others see " and I think this will fall into this category when you let us see the finished piece .

It’s a few postings who Gudrun. I think I have 20 postings left! Thank you. Thank you Graham for your excellent feedback, it gives me confidence in what I’ve done.

Interesting so far. I think I would lose the purple...

Thank you Diane, glad you agree about the purple, it didn’t make it to the next one!

Rather than go straight from pencil sketches, which I posted yesterday, to the final painting, I thought you might be interested in the process from beginning to end. The brief was to start with a fairly detailed sketch, then work from that adding colour, but ultimately reducing the initial sketch and idea down to a minimalistic end result. This is an experiment for colour done on the iPad, again, a bit scruffy.
