Beautifully painted, Fiona, with just the right palette, (in my view), for this type of scene. Well done!

Very nice winter scene Fiona.

Beautiful winter Fiona! Very calm and harmonious with lovely soft colours.

Lovely watercolour Fiona, your work is improving all the time. The only feedback I could give is the dark fence (which I thought at first were grasses) seems (to me) to intrude on the tranquil scene. Perhaps this is just my point of view but I thought I would share it as I know you are always interested in feedback. it is a super piece of work.

Many thanks for your lovely comments folks, much appreciated. I need to pracitice water more though, if it looks like snow!Lol. Oopppps! Stephen, thank you for your observation, and yes, I am interested in feedback. My thoughts on the fence were to make it a contrast between the fairly pale foreground and the pale water beyond and to bring it forward a little. I was more worried about the foreground shadows actually, I thought they were perhaps too harsh. Thanks again.

Lovely colour pallet and great painting. I love the shadow in the foreground and also how the trees blend in to the grass banks.

Beautifully fresh and light. Also the blending of warm and cool colours are a perfect balance and just what every painting needs (I usually forget!). Lovely work, Fiona.

I love all the muted but warm tones and I read that it is a fence. Lovely

Great watercolour of the nature reserve looking towards the hills Fiona

Lovely work Fiona and I think the fence adds contrast and interest, all these different artistic opinions eh!

Such a lovely scene beautifully painted and so different to the craggy wilderness of the north west. I like the contrast of the fence too:)

This IS good. I love the shadows.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.

Really like your loose style of painting Fiona, full of atmosphere and energy. Thanks also for commenting on my most recent painting.

Thanks Mark, glad you like it.

Stunning and atmospheric, Fiona! Beautifully painted.

I just think this beautiful. Gorgeous washes and tones.

Annette, Seok, and Gudrun thank you very much for your lovely comments.

Hello Fiona - I absolutely love this - it is my favourite view and I drink it in every time I am in Wigtown. Can I purchase this picture? If so how. Can you contact me on this email address? Best, Anne Brown

Hello Anne, thank you four your comment and I hope you come back to check here for an answer. I have looked on the artists search facility and there are several Anne Brown's, so rather than confuse the wrong person....lol....I'll leave a message here for you. I did this painting in 2013 and unfortunately I no longer have it in my possession. I often do paintings of the Galloway hills as they are the view from where I live. Do you visit Wigtown regularly? Have you been here for the book festival which has just finished? I'm sure I could paint another of this specific view but it probably won't be exactly the same, it might even turn out much better than this one...lol. If you want to contact me via my email you can click on 'view full profile' just under my photo on the right. Many thanks again for your contact Regards Fiona

A view of the Galloway hills from the Wigtown harbour nature reserve. At the foot of the hills the Cree Estuary flows out to Wigtown bay, then on into the Solway. Done from photo's and on site sketches, plus I spend quite a bit of time there at the bird hide. At the moment there are thousands of Starlings creating that spectacular site, as they come into the reeds around the reserve to roost. Done on Archers 16"x12" Old Holland watercolours; U. marine, L. red, R. sienna, and B. umber. Thanks for looking.
