Well, Fiona, I think this is really delightful and the red roof top on the right is a touch of genius. The tree on the right, giving a perpendicular element, is also very well done and nicely placed. I'm not just saying this because I like this form of layout, I really mean it ! I live just inside the Lincolnshire wolds, (Spilsby), and, yes, you have captured the big skies and open space of this area. Oh, and thank you for mentioning me!

Fiona I really like the way you have painted the sky, looking through your Gallery you clearly enjoy and make the most of this part of a picture, great stuff! Chris

Lovely big sky painting and super sweeping vista all painted in a loose and immediate style. Wonderful and just right.

Thank you all very much for your kind words. I'm glad & relieved you like it Lionel, it didn't turn out as I'd planned it I must say; I wanted to get an essence of light on the right side of the picture (hence bright roof top) and on the left I wanted to get the feeling of heavy cloud and shadow. After I had started it I suddenly thought, how do I get the two sides to marry in the middle, without it looking like two seperate pictures? Panic!! I don't think I achieved the middle very well. What I have noticed is......I haven't put the sails on the mill ....oooppps!!

Agree with the above comments.. it is very nice piece...

Fiona, you're really growing with every piece. It's so interesting to see how your style is developing. A very nice piece indeed.

I lived in the Lincolnshire Fens for a few years and the skies were fabulous. I hope I've captured a little bit of the feeling of space in the Fens, in this picture.
