Lovely portrait Duncan

A beautifully lit face and there's a real serenity about this portrait, Duncan, which makes it very attractive.

Thankyou Glennis, Jane, and Thea. If there is simplicity and serenity in this picture I am delighted, for its creation was anything but! After the Easter break (two weeks without lifting a pastel) I was convinced I had lost the abilty to draw when I started on this. This painting was 'started' three times, ending on each occasion with my semi-erasing what I had done (with angry strokes of a stiff brush that you can still see). I nearly chucked it away, but Samantha was just showing through the resultant haze, and I 'm glad I didn't give up on her. It's her birthday on Monday, and I am hoping that she will see this on her iPad as she wakes up.
