Interesting technique, Stevan.

Great painting! Fascinating description aswell. It would be an abstract but by the placing of the small building on top which occupies very little space youve made the abstract into a satement on reality ie the real world.

Great painting Stevan, with the "small" mine highlighted.

Stevan, I think this is one of your best works, a wonderful amalgamation of texture and colour. The addition of the mine is a reminder of whatever we build it’s inconcequential to what’s beneath.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel this is an extension and development of my style so it's good that you like it. One of my best Fiona! I like that as I'm of a similar view. Thanks again. Steve

Love it :)

The tin / copper mining industry in Cornwall has long held a fascination for me. Particularly the Pendeen area, and as such I wanted to create a picture that reflected my passion for the area. At the same time I have wanted to attempt gilding for some time but it seemed complex. Copper mining and copper gilding seemed to fit and I decided to have a go at both. I have created strata with gesso under painting and allowed the geology to blend. The old mine ruin merely anchors the abstraction to reality. As a first attempt I personally like the result and I hope it creates an impression on the observer.
