Another smasher Dermot, continuing the theme. Great shadows and love your treatment of the light from the lamps If I may make a suggestion I feel that the top right of the umbrella might benefit from a bit more reflected light but that's just me being picky.

Thanks a lot Barry you're right and I've lifted some red out , thank you

Very mysterious feel to this Dermot, like a still from an old movie. The long shadow leads us into the scene well.

Beautiful Dermot , very atmospheric

The red of the umbrella makes it special. Great contours Dermot.

Sublime watercolour work as always Dermot

Very nice work with the shadow contrasts Dermot.

Another cracker Dermot.

Wonderful work Dermot, the long shadow is great, leading your eye up the painting.

Beautiful painting Dermot. The red umbrella leads you in.

Lovely film noir feel to this, just waiting for Orson Welles to pop out. Like it.

I myself am always drawn to painting shapes & shadows so this painting caught my eye. Of course I like it (I liked it earlier on today) & am trying to learn from it. I aim to keep my paintings simple but never do & you have said it all here without cluttering it in anyway

Beautiful piece Dermot. Lovely composition.

Always a fine line between triumph and failure when working this way, well done Dermot for pulling this one off.

Superb, Dermot. So much there, and all in the washes.

Another example of your talent with watercolour Dermot.

Basically one large dark shape painted on a warm initial wash with colour variations , I remember the great Jack Merriot in an article talked about keeping the bead wet when painting your shapes great advice
