An unusual subject, which has an abstract look to it, with grid lines and the clip looking like ice . As already stated a scientific feel to this.like it.

Love the colours in the painted version, Derek, especially against all the unpainted white, it makes it a really lively painting. (At first glance the clip reminded me of an ice sculpture!)

Ink sketch from 1988 and my work today, using only a small palette knife and two hands many times for accuracy. Acrylic piece is 18cms square. The subject is a relic I still use for clipping paper to a drawing board.Colours from left on palette. I remember the sketch was in the garden on a bright day, it is silver and was on a plastice grid table.as
