Looks spot on to me Derek, I've had one or two very nice lunches at the George. You've captured the honey sandstone and architecture perfectly.

A lovely sketch Derek.

You're too kind Fiona, loads wrong but it'll do. Yes we used to eat there about twice a year, when my dear old mum would be brought south from Darlington to come and stay with us by my cousin and her husband, meet there, lunch and each return to our homes with or without a special passenger. Long before the motorways too. Thanks very much Adele, note the motorcyclist and queue of cars, hope you're practising.

Love this Derek. With watercolour just plonked on. great.

PLONKED?????????????? excuse me John. LOL

So good Derek. The regression and perspective up the street is clever.

Must admit I am happy with that bit thanks

Its 'Dead right', Derek, it says 'Stamford' to me. Well caught.

What about plonked controlled then. That's what I do and enjoy it.

Cheers Willie and John, yes thats more like it.

I was in Stamford on Monday after a day on Rutland Water - didn't get to the George but love this loose watercolour of it.

We had spent a few hours at Rutland too, viewing the Ospreys. Thanks Michael

Like this one a lot Derek....great perspective going up the road :)

Beautiful sketch, Derek.

Super, lively sketch Derek, that must be the world's biggest sign!

Really like the instantaneous look for f this. Loose, lively and a very well observed sketch.

Thanks Cesare, Sylvia and Stephen. The sign is quite old and does span the street

Thanks for the many comments Derek. I like this kind of scribble with some colour wash over it. Nice perspective. PS. I am also from Hampshire..but left it long ago. Best wishes.

Bottom of street with the Old George Hotel and it's sign. Tough job I gave myself in limited time and didn't get it dead right but it's the place
