This painting somehow captures some of the noise and power of these machines in an industrial setting which must have been thrilling to experience IRL. Looks great.

Inspired by the oil painting "Waiting in the night" by the great railway artist Philip D Hawkins I used my memory of the "glow" in the night sky over the local Irlam Steelworks furnaces to accentuate the size and latent power of the LMS 2-8-0 freight locomotive No 48503 waiting to move its long train of coal into the Furnace sidings amid a constant hive of activity shunting incoming wagons of raw materials and outgoing Steel products for the UK construction industry. Happy days!
