i love the contrast between the solid figure with you looser painting around. Often depression is painted with dark heavy colours, The colours you have used convey your message so well and with realism. the figure is fantastic the skin colouring particulary.

Helen, thanks for the lovely comments. I've wanted to take this image into oils for some time but wasn't sure which way to go with it. I'm usually a realist painter but felt that this wouldn't be enough to convey the feelings and mood that i wanted to achieve. Am definataely liking the way it is going.
