I was inspired by the work of Gill Bustamante and Art nouveau artists like Rennie Mackintosh and William Morris. I put these two styles together and this is the result. I painted a layer of linseed oil over the canvas. Then, I bought a mop brush to soften blobs of oil paint on the canvas. I dragged down lines in the technique of Rennie Mackintosh inbetween the blobs of colour, using two wedge shaped brushes; small and medium, to create the colour of the machair on the Hebrides.
