Whispering Cottongrass
The cottongrass is a sensitive and delicate flower, which I painted in a minimal style. I saw a single piece of cottongrass, which I wanted to compliment with splashes of primary colours. I finished the painting in my sleep. I saw it with a dragonfly, but I just wanted to whip up the brush strokes in a haphazard way to convey it whizzing round the air. I took the risk to off balance the painting, but I think it works. Then finally, I just streaked in minimal strokes in the foreground of colours I saw in my mind contrasting a warm orange rust with cold greens.
