This is beautiful David. I love the outline of the mountains against that crisp, blue sky and the lovely siennas in the foreground adding warmth and depth to your painting.

What a great painting David.

Super palette, David!

Agree with Carole’s comments, David, this is lovely.

Striking painting..I like the crispness of it and the dark against the light areas.

Great winter colours David

Thank you all SO much for those compliments but, as I often say, it's Mother Nature we have to thank for the lighting and inspiration! I hadn't thought of "crisp" as an attribute but I see it now. The snowy skyline is done without pencil lines which I feel would spoil it, just a big brush of cobalt blue describing the mountain tops. The palette, Thalia, is my usual limited one of 4 colours - W & N cobalt and green gold, and Daniel Smith's versions of raw & burnt sienna - Transparent Yellow Oxide and Transparent Red Oxide in this case.

Painted at home from a photo taken on a walk in the Lakes this time last year, when the winter lighting highlighted the complementary blues and oranges in the landscape.
