Thank you all for your generous comments. Yes, it's a wonderful place to be, a true wildscape, and I rejoice in still having the legs and lungs to get out there and sketch or paint on the spot. So many of my painting colleagues don't, and that's why I have a computer and cupboard full of photos from which I can paint when that time comes.

Three Shire Heads is a remote packhorse bridge where Cheshire, Derbyshire & Staffordshire meet. It’s a good two mile moorland walk from the nearest road so I’ve never yet carted my outdoor painting gear there. A sketchbook, pencil and fibre tip pens are no trouble to carry, though, and I spent a wonderful hour sat on the bank doing this sketch.
