Farm sketch with colour notes
What do you do when you find a great subject on a walk and only have a sketch book, no camera, no paints and no time to do a full tonal sketch? This is my answer - do a quick line drawing of the composition and building, and pencil in colour notes. Once home, add paint while the memory is still fresh in your mind. This is just one of many hints and tips I gleaned from the late, great James Fletcher-Watson's books.
