Actually, just looking at this on the screen where all the warts are shown up and it's total rubbish...ho ho ho. Learner, let this be a lesson to you!

Sky and land great, wouldn't know about the details of the plane but it all looks good to me. Did you stretch the paper? It looks a little cockled.

Marjorie, it IS cockled and no, I didnt stretch it. It's Fabriano artistico: even Alan Owen ha commented on it's cockling. Ive never stretched paper...you think I should?

It's not total rubbish David, I've seen, and done, far worse in my time. The colours are good and work well, cannot comment on the planes as they are not my thing at all but if you sort the paper cockling out I'm sure it will be OK.

No its not rubbish....oh ye of very little faith. Its a learning curve and how brave you have been posting every step,of the way. . Do your finished piece on a heavier paper and cut out the cockling prob. That sky is great and the two planes in it are fab. Is it possible to shed a bit more light/ reflection on the one on the ground.? Maybe add some of that sky colour onto the body of the plane and why not completly lighten the cockpit to show the sky through So well done David...

300lb paper David and you're away!

Three of the first wave of 9 Lancasters set out over Southwold, c-2200 hrs, 16th May 1943. These are the 'Dambusters' earning their name. One of these aeroplanes was piloted by Hopgood, aircraft M Mother: I have a piece of this aeroplane, dug up from the crash site by a German and later sold. I also have the radio sets these aircraft used: R1155 / T1154, which I still use on air. Anyway, my painting is a sketch in final prep for a twice size finished painting I was asked to paint by a friend who's relative was on the squadron at the time. I found this watercolour enormously challenging but great learning - I hope I make a reasonable fist of the final painting.
