Thank you all for your generous comments. I became quite obsessed with this technique for a couple of years and was able to work quite quickly although I did tend to avoid portraits of people with jet black hair! This was one of the last ones i did as my children were about to 'appear' and I pretty much stopped drawing and painting altogether. Life simply gets in the way at times.

But my goodness is this impressive.

So effective. A really good image.
