Lovely painting. We’ve only had these in the past two years, but they’ve bred successfully (though not as successfully as the house sparrows!)

These little sparrows are becoming increasingly rare in the UK . They can be distinguished from the more common house sparrow by their chestnut cap and dark cheek flashes . The males and females are all but identical . The lichen is Xanthoria - good one to remember for Scrabble (Gouache /FabrianoHP )

Having recently retired from Dentistry and no longer being down in the mouth ( old dentists joke there ) I now have more time for painting . I love painting nature subjects and find Gouache or Acrylic enable me to capture the detail I seem to be addicted to .
