Great sense of place David

Yes, Hi Heather, Liz and I walked Tryfan 3 times but never got to walk the ridge, our knees gave out!!! It is a lovely wild place where you can see Kites and other birds..........and it often rained!!!

That's beautiful, David. And, of course, the figures gave a sense of scale.

Very atmospheric and the picture surface is lovely

Beautifully glowing and full of light. David, what size is it?

Thanks Mia ,yes sorry everyone, the size is 20" x 16" on Bockingford NOT surface and I always use Artist quality watercolours as the difference in price (only a few pounds per tube) far outways the quality of most pigments and the tubes last for ages. Always buy Artist quality if you can afford to do so.

This is so majestic David. Love the burst of light over the mountains. You have displayed the power of nature so intensely. Love it.

Lovely. Great sense of scale, and thanks for tips on colour mixing.

A really majestic painting

Pleasure Linda, always willing to help Dave

Spectacular David! All that space and ozone.....refreshing.

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments

A striking picture which demands your attention. I love the feeling of light and space.

A limited palette painting using just four colours: Winsor Blue (red shade), Alizarine C, Raw S and Light Red. Mix WB with a touch of AC to take the brightness away and to give deeper tones. The walkers were a mix of WB + AC + RS = A grey/blackish colour. This is better than using a tube black as these can kill off and ruin a painting. Sky: mix a strong WB + AC , wet the whole of the paper and brush mix across the top of the paper, hold the paper vertically and let it run. Let dry horizontally.
