Certainly works form me. Love treatment of the foreground. Is it acrylic?

Yes it does work .. you could work on it a bit more, vary the colour of the roofs, add a bit more detail to the church tower; you could, but you don't need to. Good work.

I like the colour and brushwork in the foreground very much, and I feel that too much detail in the buildings could detract from the successful treatment of the foreground, trees and sky. I think it's balanced as it stands.

It works beautifully, the contrast between the foreground and the buildings is great.Gives a good sense of perspective.

Thank you all for the comments - I am still 'feeling my way' here, the freer the brush strokes the harder it is to get all parts of the painting to hang together. Any feedback from fellow artists with a similar free working style would be appreciated.

Love the simplicity of this. I don't think it needs more work - less is more as it were. I really admire artists who can get the sense acoss i a few lines. Very Cezanne-like and a lovely style. I like many of your paintings in this portfolio. Jx

A simplified version of a painting I did from a photo of this scene. The church has become the focus of the picture and I have represented the foliage and foreground with bold brush work. I hope it works?
