Good technique Christopher, very effective.

Hi Carole, Thank you for your comment, I shall experiment. Kind regards Chris

Very atmospheric :)

There is a lot of work on this painting with so many trees, the shadows and atmospheric feel. You have done so well! The support you mention is probably best for botinical work.

Thank you for your comment and yes the trees are not easy to portray, moreover in watercolour which medium I am currently taking instruction upon. I think that a freeing up is required before attempting to paint trees in such numbers. Your colours work so well in your pictures which shows a more professional thoughtful approach than I have yet acquired. Well done you. Best regards Chris

A new addition to the site, this I completed today and is a departure from the norm for me, I laid a watercolour wash for the base, outlined the main trees in week black wash, allowed to dry and then used schminke soft pastel with a little conte hard pastel, The foliage to the right is in part placed with a small natural sponge, and overlaid with pastel. The support is Jacksons 400lb student card, very soft surface and difficult to use watercolour on, I suppose that this paper would be better for crayon or some other dry medium, however I have a substantial amount so thought that I had better start using it, the end result is not too bad, however any mistake with this type of paper is harshly dealt with....
