Your comment about backgrounds will resound with many of us! But don't worry about it, this is a great painting of what I suppose must be our most beautiful bird, and to tackle it in the unforgiving medium of watercolour was brave - and also ensured its freshness.

Christine , what a great gallery you have. I particularly like this bonny kingfisher. Glad that you didn't add reflections etc.. in background as I think that it would take away from the kingfisher. I will look out for your work in local art exhibitions this summer :)
