It's your colour combinations that always catch my eye first Chrissie, an interesting painting from such a simple subject, love it!

Thanks very much Alan- the coloured ground here is an ochre/orange/blue mix and that set the palette really. I found the warmth of that basic colour quite interesting to use and have put it into a couple of other paintings since then!

Fabulous colours and some lovely textures, definitely creates the right atmosphere.

Oil on canvas 70x70cms. Back to oils after the acrylics , I am trying to keep the same sort of colour experiments going. I am very fond of this boggy place - it seems endlessly interesting because of the variety of foliage colours in the grasses especially. As I can’t get further now into the boggy meadow , I am using my sketchbook paintings as a starting point. It also means that as I am not in the bog for too long I can escape the midges!
