The Wild Garden - Boggy Grasses

The Wild Garden - Boggy Grasses

It's your colour combinations that always catch my eye first Chrissie, an interesting painting from such a simple subject, love it!

Thanks very much Alan- the coloured ground here is an ochre/orange/blue mix and that set the palette really. I found the warmth of that basic colour quite interesting to use and have put it into a couple of other paintings since then!

Fabulous colours and some lovely textures, definitely creates the right atmosphere.

Hang on Studio Wall

Oil on canvas 70x70cms. Back to oils after the acrylics , I am trying to keep the same sort of colour experiments going. I am very fond of this boggy place - it seems endlessly interesting because of the variety of foliage colours in the grasses especially. As I can’t get further now into the boggy meadow , I am using my sketchbook paintings as a starting point. It also means that as I am not in the bog for too long I can escape the midges!
