Birch Trees

Birch Trees
Comments

I'm really sorry to hear about your workshop Carol. I've just had another look at 'through the pines' and you're right about the tone but it's still got good depth and you have certainly captured the characteristic foliage and bark of the birch trees. I think the background and foreground trees are super!

Thank you Fiona for your welcome comments. What I had forgotten was the drying properties of watercolour and my foreground was meant to be a much stronger colour -hence I lost the tonal contrast. However I do feel that things are on the up at last -just need to find some more inspirations.

This is a good watercolour Carol and tone is the only suggestion I can come up with - just a few darks on the shaded sides of the trunks and in the foreground shadows but thats about it

Michael thank you for looking and for your comments. I have taken your comments on board for future reference.

Painted from a photograph. (10x7 inches). I don't think this has the strength of the "through the pines" picture -possibly not enough tonal contrasts. I would welcome constructive criticism. For those of you who commented on the workshop saga - I was unable to go last week due to a business commitment and have decided not to attend again, although the teacher warmly invited me to drop in to a session any time I like. Thanks for looking.
