Nothing to criticise as far i am aware, it looks a lovely misty mountain scene :-)

I would say Keep splashing, this looks as if you enjoyed doing it and that's what is important. If you wanted to take it further I would suggest you try to vary your tonal values a little...a few darks to add a bit of oomph ? Only a suggestion. this has a lovely free feel to it.

Wonderful Carol!! Great sky, lovely movement of brush strokes to indicate the fall of the hills and atmosphere. I like how you have softened the hills into the sky and also at the water line. I agree with Ruth, IF, you wanted to do a little more to it, a few darker tones, may be in the water towards the foreground...but only a touch. You could re-wet the water and just blend a few strokes in and don't go any deeper than the deepest colour in the sky. Check others advise first though, as I'm no expert.

Thank you all for your welcome comments. Yes Ruth I really did enjoy doing this and plan to do a bit more "wild" painting -it was very liberating I must say. I accept the comment that it needs some darker colour to give it the contrasts that it lacks but have decided to leave it as it is as a lesson for the future. Fiona -the softening of the hills into the sky and water follows comments from Stephen Slater on the Ullswater/tree stump painting and I can certainly see the improvement it has brought.

I decided it was time to attempt a larger, looser painting -this is 14 x 10 inches of nowhere in particular. Had a really wild time splashing the paint with proms playing in the background. But unexpected (but welcome) visitor arrived so I "stopped" rather than finished this. I wasn't sure whether to submit it but thought there could be some useful advice and constructive criticism.
