Hi Carol, I use these oils too, they are pretty good aren't they. I'm only a beginner myself in oils so wouldn't dream of giving you advise, but for your first go I think you've done a terrific job. Your sky is really good and the distant hills/mountains have lovely definition to them. The only thing I would do different is to make the foreground reeds/grasses darker in tone. Well done!

Thank you Sarah & Fiona for your comments. I certainly enjoyed trying oils for the first time and am looking forward to doing more when I get the chance. Fiona -I fully agree with your comment about the foreground reeds needing to be darker - in fact I did try to do this before I photographed the painting -but it was not dry enought to overpaint when I had to tidy everything away. I will go back to it in due course.. Thanks for looking.
