“…and all at once, summer collapsed into fall.” – Oscar Wilde

Ooh a beautiful painting Carole... in fact I could just sit there right now despite the autumnal dark clouds.

How true that title is. Your painting is a great reminder of better days, and adding the hat a great idea...the image becomes more personal somehow.

Really like this Carole

Many thanks Susan, Heather and Christine. It is the rapidity in the change of season that never fails to surprise me Lewis, hence the title. Thank you for your acute observation. The hat was meant to convey someone leaving in a hurry to avoid the oncoming storm.

Love your use of Autumn colours Carole. It looks like someone has just risen from that deck chair closest.

Great painting with a story, Carole - like the striking colours.

Stunning in every respect, Carole. Our summer also due to collapse at the end of the week! Might allow me out then plein air won't be so hot!!!

It certainly fits the title, Carole. Beautiful!

How true Carole.....perfect palette to conjure up the feeling of fall.

Thank you for your lovely comments Gillian, Maureen, Thalia, Mia and Fiona. Good luck with your plein air painting Thalia.

Lovely striking painting Carole - and great quote :)

I love these deckchairs, Carole. They are so full of memories and nostalgia.

The depth of colour in this (and your previous paintings) is delightful an excellent painting Carole and a well thought out title.

Incredible painting Carole, love everything about it.

Been looking at your work, Carole. It is powerful and very expressive, especially this painting, where you convey the end of season nostalgia so well.

Amazing , I can feel myself wanting to sit in one of those deckchairs

What a fab way to tell a story.
