Nice one. I would be interested in your reasoning for using a black canvas rather than painting the BG black. I ask because I'm in the middle of painting a still life with a black BG.

They look lovely Carole- love the rich colours!

The black really enhances the colours in the picture.

That is really good. Love the bold colours!

Thank you for your lovely comment Rod. I like using black canvases because I only need to put 2 black, acrylic layers in preparation. On a white surface I would need about 4 layers. I have even got away with only putting 1 layer on if I m in a hurry.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback Rod, Sarah, Claire, Stephen, Lynne and David.🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

I think this works really well - very effective Carole.👍👍

You have captured the light wonderfully on this colourful still life!

Good still life and good use of veg before their chop!

Lovely colours Carole.

Those colours sing out on that black background Carole, super still life.

Thank you so much for such kind comments Bob, Anne, Heather, John, Denise & Russell. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Those colours really stand out on that black background, great job.

I love how you have used such bold colours, it brings them to life, lovely painting Carole!

Great painting Carole, and to show my ignorance I didn't know you could get black canvases!

I like this a lot - the black background really adds something.

Thank you very much for your precious comments, so much appreciated Romila, Lisa, Trevor and Bobbie 🌞🌞🌞🌞

I couldn’t resist painting this collection of fruit and veg as I was on the verge of chopping them all up. They looked so colourful. Did a quick sketch then a photo. Oils on a black canvas with oil pastels. 12” x 10”.
