A beautiful young lady beautifully portrayed Carole, and what a lovely expression.

Painted from the heart, Carole. Beautiful.

Lovely portrait, Carole - I think you've done very well... the background works really well too.

She's beautiful and so is your painting!

A beautiful portrait of a beautiful young woman!!

Love her expression Carole, beautifully captured and executed.

Lovely portrait Carole. I’ll stick my neck out here and say I think it’s one of your best. I don’t know how you get the oil pastels so smooth!

Lovely portrait, Carole! Really like the background colour you’ve chosen.

A superb portrait.

Thank you so much Russell, Ellen, Jan,Sarah, David, Fiona, Marjorie and Jenny for such motivational comment which are so heart warming and mean so much. I must confess Marjorie that I struggle terribly to blend the pastels and I did cheat with the background by using a tiny drop of baby oil to blend. You have to use ever such a minuscule amount otherwise it ruins the paper etc. I did use prismatic pencils on the eyes but find them impossible to blend well. With the garments and background I found it easier to lay on thickly various, appropriate colours then have a good old blend. Like soft pastels you need a good amount of pastel on the paper so you can manipulate them with your fingers. Still struggling but hope this helps anyone about to start using oil pastels. Love the fact that they don’t smudge and don’t make me cough as soft pastels do.

Great portrait. Love your use of oil pastels Carole .

This is just wonderful Carole, lovely portrait.

It's really good Carole and what a lovely looking girl she is. The way ou've painted her shawl is also brilliant

Lovely painting Carole of a beautiful young lady, full of colour and character; I'm sure she'll love it!! Much love and God bless, my friend 🙂x♥️

Just lovely Carole.

Such a beautiful painting of a beautiful lady. It’s lovely Carole.

Very very good portrait executed in well thought out colours.

Oh beautiful Carole- what a lovely looking girl

Carole - that is an exceptional portrait. So many qualities- but mostly you have captured the essence of your granddaughter and you can see the affection you feel for her. Just fabulous!!

Do you know that you can get large oil pastels Carole.

Beautiful Carole!!

Beautiful, Carole and a beautiful young lady with a lovely, gentle expression. You are doing so well with this medium!

A huge thank you to all you lovely artists who have taken the time and effort to comment so positively, especially as its a new medium for me that I’m unsure of. Your words really have spurred me on to attempt more in this medium. Although I love soft pastels they are not conducive to people with chest condition (I’m one of them). It’s a tricky medium but I am getting used to them and exploring their potentiality. Thank you for letting me know that I can buy large oil pastels Shaun. At the moment I’m reserving my Senneliers for when I improve, as they are very expensive. It’s so good to receive information from artists on this site. Thank you all so much.

Beautiful young lady colours vibrant excellently painted. Charming. Well done.

Leyla is beautifully painted in pastels Carole, whichever way you do it, it always works.

Many thanks Peter and Gillian for such lovely comments. Very much appreciated🌞🌞🌞🌞

Soulful expression captured perfectly well done

This is very well done Carole. I love the way you have blended the skin tones especially. I think oil pastels are very tricky to do but yours are excellent.

I enjoy painting my grandchildren and seeing them progress throughout their different stages in life. This was quite a challenge in oil pastels, as details were very difficult to achieve but with the help of prismacolour pencils I managed to do what I could. The blending of colour has a lot to be desired but hopefully with a lot more practice I will get there. Painted on pastelmat. 12” x 14”
