Dovecote at Faulston Witshire 9.75" X 13.75
A rather attractive architectural subject that just cried out to be attempted. I have taken a few liberties with the composition mainly by moving a few bushes around here and there (this rather conveniently obscured the large house from the composition, that no doubt, this little dovecote belonged to!) The stone had a rather pinky look to it which I have tried to capture, and the protruding roof supports with their shadows were fun to try to depict. Oddly enough when I first glanced at it whilst getting my sketching gear out it reminded me of my grandmothers old sugar caster! Since thinking that I can't help but see it everytime I look at this picture! I guess we all have this happen to us at times! Painted on Arches 90lb rough paper (with suprisingly little cockling!)
