Really accomplished - in compositions such as this with a distinct division between the foreground and middleground there is always the danger that you end up cutting the picture in two but you have prevented this by the slight break in the line on the right and the superb introduction of the great shadows and darks in the right foreground - a lovely piece. By the way many thanks Chris for your kind comments on my Boathouse.

Chris, I'm not great at analysing why paintings are successful or not, but this is such a beautifully painted scene of the English rural scene at its best, and it just sits so easily on the eye. I greatly admire your skill - and I guess that lots of practice also plays a part. Thanks for posting your work here - it's an inspiration.

Lovely job Chris, you have given the painting depth and lit it well working with a limited palette, very good.

Beautiful , I love the limited palette.

A super painting Chris, love the palette you've used.

Really lovely - love the composition and the rendering of the trees. So much variety which contributes to the unity of the whole.

Very accomplished watercololour as we have come to expect, plus now jokes too!

Anniversary weekend found us on the A361 heading south from Chipping Norton to Burford, when my wife pointed out this "compo" from the car. The weather was abosolutely lovely so we parked up as near as possible and got on with it. (After re reading that, the painting obviously!) I have taken a few liberties with the lighting, but it so helped the composition. A fox ran through the field during our stay but unfortuantely never found its way into the painting, perhaps the "Wychwood Fox" will turn up next time, or for you if you go there!
