Four super watercolours posted here Brian. I feel you would get many more comments if you posted them one at a time.

This is a view against the light looking from the Town Hall to St Paul's Parade, the red brick buildings centre right. The scene owes its atmosphere to tone and hue in equal measure; the sharp contrast of deep dark reds against the almost pure white of the roof tops; blues and blue-violets alternating with vibrant passages of cool lemon yellows and yellow-greens point up the back lighting in their complimentary combinations; the halos of white light around the figures, shrubs and water features; the bleached out detail in the thoroughfare; the radiating cast shadows of the figures, all contribute to what caught my eye as a scene full of impact. The white of the paper has earned its crust.
