Thank you Dennis and Ibolya, I expect the studio piece will be more accurate but lack some of the spontaneity of painting on the spot. Given the choice I will choose Plein air every time.

Thank you Pete, it will probably be a few weeks before I take it on but not too long as I want to have the memories fresh in my mind.

Out with the Plein air group yesterday. The Wiltshire village of Steeple Ashton offered a host of painting opportunities and after a good scout around I chose a landscape view of the main street with the church tower. I was a little disappointed with my initial wash of the grass which failed to reflect the bright sunshine of the day to my satisfaction. I feel a studio painting coming on!!! It was a lovely day with lots of friendly residents coming out to chat and the Longs Arms provided needed sustenance at lunchtime.
